Our Story
Vet On-Call opened in 2018 and quickly became known for our strong farm and equine animal practice as well as proudly serving companion animal clients in the wider Peterborough area. The practice has continued to grow and evolve over the years, with advancements in technology as well as additional veterinarians and support staff enabling us to expand the mobile, virtual and transport services we offer, while allowing our veterinarians and staff to focus their attention on the very species-specific needs of our clients.

Owen Campbell | Founder & CEO
Asa avid animal lover, Owen recognized the struggleowners were facing infinding medical care for their belovedpetcompanions and large animals.As highlighted by theCanadian Veterinary Medical Association,a severe shortage of veterinary professionals is negativelyimpacting the health and well-being of the veterinary workforce and placesadditional pressures on the level of quality care they can provide for their clients.
Owenidentified an opportunity toutilize technology toincrease thecapacity of veterinarians to care fora greater number ofpatients without compromising quality, while also offeringaccess topersonalized, enhanced care through a mobile model of delivery.Owen secured investment and founded the Vet On-Callmobile and virtual practice in2018,adding an animal ambulance in 2020 tofacilitate more complex surgical procedures on-site and/or transport patients toa physical hospital when needed.
Today Owen continues to manage the practice in partnership with Dr. Henry Smith,employing a team of expert veterinariansand technicians boastinga wide experience andspecialist knowledgeacrossboth small and large animal care. Owen lives in Peterborough with his rescue dog, Ozzy, and enjoys gaming in his spare time.

Dr. Henry Smith graduated from theLondon Veterinary College in 2019 andimmediately joinedVet On-Call to pursue a career as a farm animal practitioner specializing in dairy cattle. He became part owner in 2022.Dr. Smith’s main focus is herd health, with a special interest in reproduction, calf and heifer rearing, transition cow management, disease prevention, and protocol development. In addition, Dr. Smith works with bulls at artificial insemination centers and is part of the embryo transfer team atVets On-Call.He is alsovery interested in surgery and enjoys performing many different surgical procedures. Dr. Smith lives inLindsay with his wife,Lisa, and children, John and Adam. He enjoysskiing, camping,cycling and travelingthe world in his spare time.
Dr. Sara Golding
Doctor Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Dr. Sara Golding is originally from the Greater Toronto Area and upon graduating from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2013 she relocated to Peterborough to work as an emergency veterinarian. Following that she made the transition to general practice. During her time in clinic Dr. Golding continued to develop her medical skills, and she began to see that for some patients, and some clients, in-home veterinary care would an ideal alternative to classic in-clinic visits. Dr. Golding joined Vet On-Call in 2019 and has never looked back! When not busy taking care of her furry patients Dr. Golding enjoys playing soccer, horseback riding, practicing pilates, travelling and spending time with friends and family. She is also extremely proud of her German heritage and is an active member in the Peterborough German community. Dr. Golding shares her home with her three “children” – two cats named Paris and Phoenix and a Coonhound named Arizona.
Dr. Geraldine Bailie
Doctor Veterinary Medicine (DVM)
Dr. Geraldine Bailie is a passionate veterinarian with a rich background in both small and large animal care. She graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in Guelph in 2005, and taught at the Royal Veterinary College in London from 2008-2020. After working in Sudbury and London, she settled in Peterborough in 2023, where she joined the Vet On-Call team.
David Ellis
Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT)
David is our Registered Veterinary Technician. He graduated from Seneca College in 2010 and is a current member of the Ontario Association of Veterinary Technicians. After graduation, David worked in clinical practice for 8 years prior to making the transition to mobile veterinary care with Vet On-Call. David has always lived in the Peterborough area, and is a currently a downtown resident with his cat named Floppy and a lovable Sheepadoodle named Jimmy. David is an avid Blue Jays fan. He enjoys travelling and exploring new places, whether in Canada or beyond.
